A Park for Everyone — Designed with Dementia in Mind

“Work kicks off this week on a new park in the central Canadian city of Calgary that will offer flat, color-coded paths that loop through patches of native wild plants and stretches of lawn. An open amphitheater and playground will give community members and children places to relax and play. Benches will offer plenty of places to sit, shaded by trees and pavilions of various sizes and shapes.
Like other public parks, the Martin Family Legacy Garden is intended to serve all city residents. But, this project is a first in Canada. All of its features were designed with an eye to the needs of people living with dementia.
