Casa de la Luz Foundation transitions to
Roots & Roads Community Hospice Foundation.

June 1, 2021 – The Casa de la Luz Foundation was established in 2000 by Agnes Ronstadt Poore and Lynette Jaramillo, founders of Casa de la Luz Hospice, to support struggling families with basic end-of-life needs. For the last 20+ years, the Foundation has provided financial assistance, end-of-life education, and research grant funding that has enabled individuals to die in comfort and with dignity.
The new name, Roots & Roads Community Hospice Foundation, was created to better distinguish the nonprofit as southeastern Arizona’s premier hospice support and education organization.
Roots & Roads Executive Director, Julie Evans states, “As our elderly population skyrockets over the next several years, the need for hospice support will grow exponentially. We are preparing to deepen our impact for those in our community who will be in need.”
The new name and logo, designed locally, is evocative of what many patients talk about at end of life: where they came from (family roots), their journey thus far (labyrinth), and for where they believe they are going (roads).

Casa de la Luz Hospice founder Agnes Poore, CEO shares
“We knew that one day the Foundation would spread its wings and take flight. We are proud to see the Foundation expand its mission and continue the important work in support of all of our community’s hospice patients.”
Roots & Roads Community Hospice Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports, empowers, and transforms the end-of-life experience into the final act of living well by providing financial resources for patients and their families while expanding knowledge through educational activities and the funding of projects that improve end-of-life care.
